Jacinda Bayne

Jacinda Bayne

Born in New Zealand Jacinda began painting as a child, learning from her Grandfather, watching him paint scenes of central Otago in watercolour and oils. Inspired and fascinated by light, colour and shape found within the landscape, Jacinda continued her love of art through school, winning many local art prizes.

At the age of 17, Jacinda was accepted into the prestigious Fine Art School in Dunedin. After graduating, Jacinda travelled extensively and settled in Edinburgh where she was accepted to WASPS Art Studios in Edinburgh and exhibited in group shows as well as at Stenton Gallery. On returning to NZ, Jacinda held a studio in Dunedin, exhibiting locally and was represented by Roslyn Gallery.

Jacinda's work reflects her passion for colour and the WA landscape is a constant source of inspiration. She uses watercolours to capture her immediate responses to a place. Working from these sketches in her studio, she uses oil paint for it's bright intense colours. With bold brush strokes and thin glazes, she works intuitively.

Jacinda's work has an abstract quality, retaining the essence of what we see. To balance the two is extremely difficult.

In 2008 & 2009 Jacinda was the finalist in the prestigious 'Artitude' YAWA art award where her work was showcased at the Burswood Intercontinental Hotel.

Jacinda's work is held in private and corporate collections in Scotland, New Zealand, Finland and Australia.
